Writing in your journal everyday is a great way to share your stories, thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
Writing Ideas
- write an email to your teacher
- write about your pet or a pet that you wish you had
- read a book and write about your favourite part
- write about your favourite toy
- write a letter to a friend (or a senior) and mail it to them
- write your own story
- write a journal entry about your day
- watch a movie and write about your favourite part and why
- think of some questions to ask a family member and interview them
- have a family picnic indoors and write out the menu
- make a card and a homemade gift for someone
- bake or cook something and write about how it turned out or tasted
- write a how-to guide on how to do/fix something
- write about a time you got hurt
- write about your favourite thing to do with your family
- write about something you would like to get better at
- write about a superpower that you wish that you had
- write a supper/ lunch review
- Get a blanket or towel to sit on outside. Sit or lay in complete SILENCE for the 5 minutes. Using your senses, observe the world around you. Write about what you observed.
Other Ideas
- have someone read you a recipe and measure out the ingredients
- build a fort out of blankets, chairs, or cushions, camp in it all day and create stories to tell your family over dinner
- call a grandparent or loved one and ask them to teach you a song from their childhood days
- make some puppets or use some lego men and put on a puppet show
- use dress up clothes and props put on a show for your family
- learn how to do a magic trick and put on a show
- draw and label a map of your house/yard that leads to a treasure
- help plan a meal with the four food groups (grain), protein (meat), dairy (milk), and vegetables and fruit
